Goalkeeping Drills by Fred Barber

This page offers an insight into the goalkeeping drills used by Fred and his coaching staff to train some of the leading Premier League, Championship and International goalkeepers of the world. The goalkeeper training format you see below is the same as in the downloadable manuals found in the online goalkeeper shop.

Goalkeeping Drill One 4 Yard Goal

Setup the goal area so that one cone is in the middle of the goal 4 yards from the post. The 4 yard goal setup is achieved by placing two cones 4 yards in front of the middle cone just inside the posts. To use the goalkeeping drill setup the goalkeeper starts on the back cone; sprints forward and sets in the four yard goal area ready to receive a strike from the server.

Same set up as the previous exercise only this time 2 goalkeepers are working the goalkeeper drill. One goalkeeper works the middle 4 yard goal and the other goalkeeper works the right handside 4 yard goal area. The Goalkeepers sprint out and set in the 4 yard goal area ready to receive a strike from the server. The goalkeepers change over so both work in middle and on left, the goalkeeping drill is then repeated.

This is just a small snapshot of one of the training manuals, to see an overview of the entire training manual range click here, or alternatively you can purchase the remaining drills from the online shop found here.
