Goalkeeping Techniques & Drills by Fred Barber

This page offers an insight into the goalkeeping drills used by Fred Barber and his coaching staff to train some of the leading Premier League, Championship, League, Conference and International goalkeepers of the world. The goalkeeper training format you see below is the same as in the downloadable manuals found in the online goalkeeper shop and used in the goalkeeper training videos.

Goalkeeping Drill Crossing

For this goalkeeping drill both Goalkeepers work together. Both the servers should be 8 yards out. Similar to the previous drills the keeper comes and catches then switches to catch on the other side. The goalkeeper on the left goes behind the cone and the goalkeeper in the right goes in front so that they do not collide when changing.

As with the previous excercise this goalkeeping drill requires two goalkeepers. One goalkeeper starts on the cone, the other on the six yard box. The goalkeeper on the cone starts catching the high ball. When thrown back to the server the next keeper goes whilst the first keeper sprints back to the cone ready for the next ball. Complete four catches then switch sides.
